A Home Covid Wedding for Crystal and Angel – Married March 31, 2020
Once upon a time, ladies and gentlemen, I wrote and performed ceremonies that sounded just like every other minister’s ceremony. I did try to personalize them just a little bit but did not have the understanding and training that I do today.
My wedding officiant business really kind of took off during Covid. People found themselves with a marriage license, and nowhere to use it! When word got out that I would come and perform a wedding ceremony in their living room, I began getting calls. One of those calls was to a beautiful couple: Crystal and Angel. Here is their ceremony as I performed it:
We are gathered here today to witness the union of Crystal and Angel. Welcome friends and family!
Today is the beginning of a remarkable journey for this couple. Drawing on their mutual admiration, respect, and trust, they are ready to embark on the next chapter in their lives. We celebrate the love and light evident in their relationship and wish them well on this joyous occasion.
Marriage is an integral part of human tradition. Let us remember, as we stand here before the universe, that the vows taken today hold great importance, just as they did to our ancestors. As individuals, we make the choice to enter the union of marriage in order to share all aspects of ourselves with our soul mate. Today, this is true for Crystal and Angel.
There are fewer great joys in life than finding someone with whom we truly click. And that spirit, I will now share a short reading on soul mates from author Richard Bach: “A soul mate is someone who has locks to fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out, and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we're pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we are safe in our own paradise. Our soul mate is someone who shares our deepest longings, our sense of direction. When we are two balloons, and together our direction is up, chances are we’ve found the right person. Our soul mate is the one who makes life come to life.”
I now invite Crystal and Angel to share their vows with one another period Crystal and Angel the promises you make today are sacred they are the groundwork from which your marriage will grow and blossom over time.
Crystal before your family and friends, do you take Angel as your beloved husband, to have and to hold, through laughter and in sadness, through challenges and successes, as so long as you both shall live? Crystal says, “I do.”
Angel, before your family and friends, do you take Crystal as your beloved wife, to have and to hold through laughter and in sadness, through challenges and successes, as so long as you both shall live? Angel says, “I do.”
Wedding rings are a traditional symbol of the strength of the bond between two soul mates. This bond is never broken, and continues in a perpetual circle, glowing with the warmth and eternal light of two souls in a perfect union. By wearing these rings, you will always be reminded of the connection you share and the vows you have made today.
Each of them repeats after me: “I present you with this ring as a symbol of our everlasting love. Let it never lose its luster just as my love for you will never fade.”
Crystal and Angel by the power vested in me by the universal life church and by the state of Texas, under the eyes of the universe, I happily pronounce you husband and wife! You may now share your first married kiss!
Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time, I give you Mr. and Mrs. Guerrero!
Wishing you a very Happy Anniversary! Officiating your wedding was a privilege, and it’s a joy to see your love flourishing. Cheers to many more years of happiness.
