Scrolling, Scrolling, BAM! Denysse and Santiago Marry on April 20, 2024
I know y'all dyin' to hear these two's love story, right? Here it is:
This love story begins as all great fairy tales begin, ... on the bustling, always-on world of social media. Santiago, a guy who's got a thing for the digital world, stumbles across Denysse's profile. He's scrolling, scrolling, and then - BAM! - he stops. There's something about this girl. Her smile is like sunshine. He finds her cute - no, not just cute - SUPER cute! He's feeling brave, so he decides to drop her a message.
On the other side of the screen, Denysse is hanging out online. She's just chilling when - ping - a new message pops up. It's from Santiago. She checks out his profile. She thinks he's kinda cute too. She's intrigued, so she decides to reply. Back and forth, back and forth, their messages fly across the digital universe.
Then the day comes, the day they decide to meet in person. Santiago is nervous. He's sweating bullets! But he's also excited. He's hoping Denysse finds his nervousness endearing rather than off-putting.
Denysse, on the other hand, is a bundle of nerves. She's meeting Santiago, the cute guy from the Internet. When she sees him, she realizes he's as nervous as she is. And it's not just the sweat, it's the way he's fumbling his words, the way he's trying to be funny, the way he's paying attention to every word she says.
Santiago and Denysse continue to see each other after that first date at that fancy Mexican restaurant. They've made it clear to each other that they aren't looking for anything serious. However, Santiago, ever the romantic, already has plans by their second date to fly Denysse to Hawaii. Denysse finds this funny and charming, but she's not quite sure if he's joking or not.
But the third date - that's a game changer for both of them. Out of the blue, Santiago looks Denysse in the eyes and tells her he likes her. Denysse realizes she likes him too. This isn't what either of them planned, but there it is. She finds herself canceling other plans to go on these dates with Santiago.
From that moment on, their relationship shifts. They are no longer just friends who happen to be on dates. They are two people who are interested in each other romantically and are excited to see where this newfound relationship takes them. They both find themselves drawn to each other, more and more with each passing day.
Their relationship is not without its awkward moments, through. Like the time when Santiago, in a fit of nervousness, tells Denysse how to eat shrimp. Or the time when Denysse picks Santiago up for the first date and he's all sweaty from running up and down three flights of stairs. But they laugh it off. These moments, they realize, are part of their journey. They're learning about each other, their quirks and habits, about what makes them tick. And they wouldn't have it any other way.
Each date leads to the next, and soon Santiago and Denysse are building a life together.
Santiago and Denysse are on a road trip across Washington State. They visit different parks and places, with Santiago secretly carrying an engagement ring in his pocket the whole time. He's waiting for the perfect moment to propose. But, the weather is not cooperating, just as the locals warned. It's a typical gloomy, drizzly day in Washington.
Despite the weather, they end up at Ruby Beach, which is the last place on their list. It's not the most beautiful place, but it's about to become very special to them. Santiago decides this is the place. He's not usually one for taking pictures, but he needs a diversion. He tells Denysse he wants to record a video to later screenshot different parts. His plan is to have her turn around and see him on his knee. But things don't go as planned. He fumbles a bit with the ring box, and Denysse turns around halfway through his movements. She looks at him, puzzled. "What are you doing?" she asks, though she clearly knows what's going on.
Santiago doesn't get a chance to ask his question. Denysse is already crying and saying yes. Santiago feels a lump in his throat and his eyes well up with tears of joy. He slides the ring onto her finger, and they stand up, now an engaged couple! It's a very intimate moment, just the two of them. No surprise camera. No friends. Just them, the beach, the ocean and the sky.
And here we are today.
When I asked Santiago and Denysse what they love about each other ... why they are getting married ... and why now?
Denysse said, "There are so many things I love about Santiago, but to name a few: I love how funny he is, his confidence in everything he does. I love how he loves my family as his own, how determined he is, his intelligence, his loyalty, his bravery, and most of all, I love that he treats me like a princess. Santiago is my sunshine on a rainy day, the love of my life, and my best friend. I thank God for putting him in my life. I am deeply in love with Santiago. Each and every day I love him more and more. I don't think there are enough words to describe it. I can truly say that I am beyond excited to share so many memories, adventures, good time and bad time together. I couldn't wait to build a future and a home together and I truly couldn't wait to finally get to call him my husband."
Santiago responded, "I love that Denysse is someone I can easily get along with; we have such a strong connection and share a good sense of humor. She's a very good listener and will listen to anything I have to say, no matter how boring or dumb it may be. Denysse is big-hearted, humble, caring, and extremely patient with me. She's the better half of this relationship, which inspires me to become a better person. She tough as steel but yet fragile and delicate as a flower. I also love that she's smart, funny, outgoing, and full of joy. Her contagious laughter and sincere personality can brighten even the darkest of days. When I met Denysse, I realized that not only had I found the love of my life, but also my best friend. Her kindness knows no bounds, filling every moment with warmth and love, and I'm endlessly grateful for her unwavering belief in me and her support through thick and thin.
I want to marry her because I've found someone who completes me in a way only the two of us know. It's not just about love, through that's a big part of it; it's about building a life together, facing challenges as a team, and sharing in each other's joys and sorrows. I want to marry because I found someone who understands me, supports me, and believes in me like no one else ever has. With Denysse by my side, I know that together we can conquer anything that life throws our way. I'm ready to grow old alongside Denysse and share my life with no one else but her. Her love is like the shooting star that I've been waiting for my whole life, and now that I've seen her, I don't plan to let her pass me by."
