Lydia & Ana's Granberry Hills Wedding: A Love Story, a Surprise Proposal, and a Spurs Game 7 Victory
Wedding Date: May 30, 2026
Venue: Granberry Hills Event Facility, San Antonio, Texas
Officiant: Unforgettable Beginnings by Sabrina
Some wedding days are memorable.
Some wedding days are unforgettable.
And then there are wedding days where a beautiful couple celebrates their love at one of San Antonio's most beloved wedding venues while the entire city loses its collective mind because the Spurs win Game 7 and advance to the NBA Finals.
May 30, 2026, was one of those days.
At Granberry Hills in San Antonio, surrounded by family, friends, laughter, and more than a few happy tears, Lydia and Ana celebrated their marriage in a ceremony that perfectly reflected who they are: genuine, joyful, family-centered, and completely in love.

And somewhere between the first kiss and the last dance, phones started buzzing with alerts that the San Antonio Spurs had defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-103 in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.
Needless to say, it was quite a night.
A Love Story That Started With a Laugh
Every couple has a beginning.
For Lydia and Ana, it started at work.
No dramatic movie moment.
No elaborate meet-cute.
Just a desk being set up in a new department and a laugh that carried across the office.
Ana noticed Lydia almost immediately.
There was something about her energy. The way she brightened a room without even trying. The kind of person who walks in and somehow makes an ordinary workday feel a little lighter.
Meanwhile, Lydia was navigating the chaos of being the new employee.
You know the drill.
Where is this form?
Who do I ask for that?
Why does this printer appear to have chosen violence today?
Ana became the person with the answers.
Questions turned into conversations.
Conversations turned into friendship.
And friendship quietly began turning into something much more.
The Food Truck Date That Changed Everything
A few days before their first date, Lydia casually mentioned wanting to visit a local food truck park.
Most people would hear the comment and forget it five minutes later.
Ana paid attention.
When she asked Lydia out, she took her to that very food truck park.
Lydia never saw it coming.
But that's what made it so meaningful.
It wasn't about an extravagant gesture.
It was about being heard.
Being noticed.
Being remembered.
Over tacos, conversation, and wandering between food trucks trying to decide whether loaded fries counted as a second meal or a side dish, the two women began getting to know each other outside the workplace.
The connection was easy.
Natural.
Comfortable.
The best relationships often start that way.
Not with fireworks.
With friendship.
The Proposal That Almost Didn't Happen
As their relationship grew, Ana knew she wanted to spend her life with Lydia.
By late 2024, she had a proposal plan in mind.
Then life happened.
Ana's nephew, Jose, arrived on November 26, 2024, throwing everyone's schedules into beautiful chaos.
Hospital visits.
Family logistics.
Running back and forth for clothes and supplies.
The original proposal timeline suddenly didn't make much sense anymore.
So Ana adjusted.
On November 27, 2024, Lydia was rushing around preparing for another hospital visit when Ana called her downstairs.
Lydia wasn't exactly thrilled about making an unnecessary trip down the stairs.
But she came anyway.
Standing on the third step, she found Ana waiting below on one knee.
No flash mob.
No giant production.
No social media influencers hiding behind furniture.
Just two people, a staircase, and a question that would change their lives forever.
Lydia said yes.
Why They Chose Each Other
One of my favorite parts of creating personalized ceremonies is asking couples what they love most about one another.
The answers Lydia and Ana gave were beautiful.
Ana shared that Lydia brought stability, safety, and light into her life. She described finding a true life partner, someone who communicates, compromises, and faces life's challenges together.
Lydia spoke about the way Ana loves her. How she makes her laugh when she needs it most, supports her through difficult times, and chooses her every single day.
Those answers tell you everything you need to know.
This isn't just a couple who fell in love.
This is a couple who found home in one another.
A Meaningful Glass Ceremony
One of the highlights of the ceremony was Lydia and Ana's Glass Ceremony.
Instead of blending sand, they combined colorful glass pebbles representing their individual lives, experiences, personalities, and families.
The symbolism was beautiful.
The pieces remain distinct, representing the fact that marriage isn't about losing yourself.
It's about bringing your whole self into the partnership.
After the wedding, those glass pieces will be transformed into a custom glass vase, creating a lasting piece of art that symbolizes their marriage.
It's a wonderful reminder that two separate lives can come together to create something entirely new and uniquely beautiful.
The Best Marriage Announcement Ever
Now here's where things get even more fun.
Technically speaking, Lydia and Ana weren't becoming married that day.
They already were.
The couple had legally completed their marriage paperwork months earlier in September.
So instead of the traditional announcement, there was a playful surprise for guests.
Rather than saying, "I now pronounce you married," I got to reveal that they had actually beaten everyone to the punch and had already signed the paperwork.
The room erupted with laughter.
The kiss was just as sweet.
And the celebration continued.
When the Spurs Won Game 7
As if the day wasn't memorable enough, something historic was happening more than just a few miles away.
The San Antonio Spurs were battling the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.
The city was on edge.
Every Spurs fan was checking scores.
Every sports bar was packed.
And by the end of the night, San Antonio had even more to celebrate.
The Spurs defeated Oklahoma City 111-103, winning the series and punching their ticket to the NBA Finals.
Suddenly, wedding guests weren't just celebrating Lydia and Ana.
They were celebrating the Spurs too.
The timing couldn't have been more perfect.
One victory for a basketball team.
One victory for love.
Both happening on the same unforgettable San Antonio evening.
A Perfect Granberry Hills Wedding
Granberry Hills continues to be one of the most popular wedding venues in San Antonio for good reason.
Its beautiful ceremony spaces, welcoming atmosphere, and versatile event options create the perfect setting for celebrations of every style.
For Lydia and Ana, it provided the ideal backdrop for a ceremony that was heartfelt, personal, and filled with laughter.
The venue was full of people who love them.
People who have watched their relationship grow.
People who understand just how special this couple is.
And that's what weddings are really about.
Not perfect timelines.
Not flawless details.
Not expensive decorations.
They're about gathering the people who matter most and celebrating a love story worth telling.
Congratulations, Mrs. and Mrs. Barboza
Lydia and Ana's story began with a laugh across an office.
It continued through friendship, food trucks, family milestones, and an unexpected proposal on a staircase.
And on May 30, 2026, at Granberry Hills in San Antonio, surrounded by their favorite people, they celebrated that journey together.
A wedding.
A marriage.
A Spurs Game 7 victory.
Honestly, San Antonio couldn't have asked for a better Saturday night.
Congratulations, Mrs. and Mrs. Barboza. May your marriage be filled with laughter, adventure, unwavering support, and many, many more reasons to celebrate.
And may you always remember that on the night you celebrated your love story, the entire city was celebrating right alongside you.
