Serenaty and Terrance Say "I Do!" - Married June 21, 2025

Hold on to your hats, folks ... this starts out simply enough, but soon ... well, read for yourself as we get a little wedding scare!

This love story begins with a mean look and a plan to turn it into a laugh.
Enter Terrance, our first character. He's a pretty normal guy, his life is as ordinary as one can be until he meets Serenaty. She's a family friend, introduced to him through his stepsister. Upon meeting her, Terrance immediately notices a serious, almost mean look on her face. Instead of being put off, he makes it a personal mission to make her laugh. It's a challenge, he thinks, but he's up for it.
Our second character in our story, we have Serenaty. She's been living with Terrance's stepsister for a while, and they've just made a big move to Texas. Meeting Terrance for the first time, she doesn't have a very solid first impression. He's cute, she notes, but that's about it. She doesn't think much of it. Little does she know, that's about to change.

As time passes, Terrance and Serenaty start hanging out. It's casual at first, a shared meal here, a trip to the grocery store there. But slowly, they start spending more and more time together. They chat about everything and nothing, and Terrance finds himself trying to make Serenaty laugh at every opportunity. Sometimes, he succeeds, and he notes the way her eyes light up. Other times, he's met with the same mean look. But he doesn't give up.
Meanwhile, Serenaty finds herself getting closer and closer to Terrance. She enjoys his company, his attempts to make her laugh. She doesn't realize it at first, but she's starting to fall in love with him. It's a scary thought, one that she quickly pushes away. She's not sure how Terrance feels about her, and the uncertainty makes her nervous.
But despite the uncertainty, their friendship continues to grow. They're learning about each other, about their likes and dislikes, their hopes and dreams. And as they do, they're slowly realizing that they might be more than just friends. But for now, it's just an unspoken understanding, a silent agreement to let the future unfold as it may. As the curtain falls on Act 1, their love story has only just begun.
The curtain rises as Terrance and Serenaty plan their first official date. Terrance knows Serenaty hasn't been out much and decides to take her to dinner at Olive Garden. A safe choice, he thinks, a place where they can enjoy good food and even better conversation.
On the other side, Serenaty is excited about her date. When Terrance asks her where she wants to go, she doesn't hesitate and picks Olive Garden. Fingers crossed they have good breadsticks, she jokes, trying to lighten her own nerves.
The day of the date arrives. They arrive at Olive Garden and Terrance, ever the gentleman, pulls out the chair for Serenaty. They order their food, chatting away as they wait. Terrance makes a funny comment about the salad, and to his delight, Serenaty laughs. It's a small victory, but a victory, nonetheless.
The conversation flows easily between them. They talk about everything from their favorite movies to their dreams for the future. Terrance finds himself more and more intrigued by Serenaty. He likes her honesty, her sense of humor, and the way she scrunches her nose when she laughs.
For Serenaty, the date is going really well. She enjoys Terrance's company and his easygoing nature. She finds herself laughing at his jokes, even the bad ones. And as the night progresses, she can't shake off the feeling that he might be the one for her. It's a thought that both excites and scares her.
After dinner, they head to the movie theatre. Terrance insists on buying the popcorn and Serenaty teases him about his generous butter request. They settle into their seats, the movie starts, and they share a cozy silence.
The date ends on a high note. They laugh, they share secrets, they create memories. There aren't many surprises, just good conversation and a chance to know each other a little more. It feels comfortable, natural, like a perfect fit.
And that's how their first date goes. It sets the tone for the adventures to come. And that date leads to the next, and soon Terrance and Serenaty are building a life and a future together. The curtain falls on Act 2, leaving the audience eager for what's to come.
The curtain lifts on Act 3 and we find Terrance and Serenaty at home, fresh from running errands. Serenaty is on the phone with her sister, chatting away about this and that. Terrance watches her, a serious look on his face. He's got something on his mind, something big.
Serenaty finishes her phone call and turns to Terrance. He's standing there, looking at her with those intense eyes. She raises an eyebrow, What's up? she asks. Terrance clears his throat, takes a deep breath, and asks her, “Do you love me?”
Serenaty blinks, surprised by the question. Of course I do, she answers, her heart fluttering in her chest. Then he asks her another question, “Do you want to spend the rest of your life with me?”
This time, Serenaty doesn't hesitate. Yes, she says, her voice full of certainty. It's at this point that Terrance does something unexpected. He gets down on one knee and asks her to marry him.
Serenaty is shocked, honestly. She had no clue he was going to do it that day. She looks at Terrance, down on one knee, and feels a rush of joy, of love. She's speechless for a moment, then she nods, her eyes filling with tears. Yes, she says again, this time with even more certainty.
Terrance stands, a grin spreading across his face. He pulls Serenaty into a hug, lifting her off her feet in his excitement. They laugh, they cry, they celebrate this new chapter in their life.
And that's how they got engaged. A simple proposal at home, just the two of them. No grand gestures, no public declarations, just a simple question and a heartfelt 'yes'.

And here we are today.
And with that, the curtain falls on Act 3, leaving Terrance and Serenaty to enjoy their happily ever after.
They did it! Can we give it up for Serenaty and Terrance?
This is a beautiful story.
It’s a story of two people who
met over a mean look, got to know each other, and decided to date.
It’s because of the moments in this story
and many others that Terrance can say of Serenaty,
when I asked him what he loves about her:
I love that she appreciates the things I do to provide, I work hard and try the best I can. She gives me a reason to not work out of town, so I want to be home everyday. I feel at peace when I am cuddled up beside her after a long day.
And Serenaty says of Terrance, when I asked her what she loves about him:
This is kind of hard because there’s a lot of things I love about him. He pushes me to be a better version of myself, he loves me for all that I am. We have our moments but I wouldn’t want it with anybody else. He’s a fantastic dad, a wonderful person, he can be a real smart-butt sometimes but I know it’s all love. He makes me smile even when I don’t feel like it. When I have my bad days he’s always there to make sure I’m okay and I’ve never really had that before in my life. When I sit there and vent about something that’s bothering me he’ll sit there and listen no matter how many times I’ve talked about it.
And so, having said all that, Serenaty and Terrance, do you stand here today to give yourselves to each other in marriage?
Serenaty and Terrance: “We do.”
Please join me in a prayer of blessing over Serenaty and Terrance as they begin this wild, beautiful adventure called marriage.
Hey there, Gracious God—We’re so glad You are Love with a capital L, and that we get to be here today to witness Serenaty and Terrance making it official with vows, rings, a kiss, and maybe a happy tear or two. (Not naming names, but we saw you, Tina)
We ask Your blessing on them, because let’s be honest - marriage is full of magic and messes, and they’re going to need all the grace, strength, and good Wi-Fi they can get.
Protect them from harm, bad vibes, and group texts that last forever.
Walk with them in every part of life: When they’re killing it at work and when they can't find matching socks, when they’re laughing at inside jokes or crying over burnt cookies, when they’re holding hands through good days, hard days, and all the gloriously ordinary days in between.
Let their love be big enough to hold each other—and spill out onto everyone around them. May their life together be not just beautiful, but contagious (in the good way, not the 2020 way).
And may we all say together: Amen. Or Awomen. Or Awheckyes.
Vows
This is the heart of the ceremony - the part of the day when Serenaty and Terrance break new ground into their relationship by making promises to each other traditionally called “vows.”
Terrance, I’m going to ask you a question, and you can reply with a strong, confident “I do” (or, you know, something audible that sounds like enthusiasm).
Terrance, do you take Serenaty to be your wife—
your life partner, your best friend,
your fellow snack hoarder, and your co-binger of bad TV?
Will you join your life with hers,
share the highs, the lows, and the weird little in-betweens?
Will you laugh with her until your face hurts,
hold her when life throws shade,
and keep growing together, even when it’s hard?
Do you promise to honor her,
be faithful to her,
and love her even when she steals the covers or finishes the leftovers?
All the days of your beautifully imperfect life?
Terrance: “I do.”
To Serenaty:
And now, Serenaty—your turn. Deep breath, strong voice, maybe a wink for flair.
Serenaty, do you take Terrance to be your husband—
your life partner, your best friend,
your go-to hug dispenser and emergency contact for everything from flat tires to emotional meltdowns?
Will you join your life with his,
share your hopes, your snacks, and your secret Spotify playlists?
Will you laugh with him during the good stuff,
be his shoulder during the hard stuff,
and grow old (and weird) together, side by side?
Do you promise to honor him,
be faithful to him,
and love him even when he forgets where he put literally everything?
All the days of your life—and probably into the next one, too?
Serenaty: “I do.”

I was the only professional vendor for this lovely backyard wedding! There were a couple of … “things”. One, we began the ceremony under a beautiful arbor … and it began raining. We moved under the patio cover, not a problem. A few minutes later, though, another issue as the Maid of Honor fainted! She fell off the patio, scraped her arm and bumped her head! Ceremony paused, naturally, while she was attended to, seated, bandaged, and hydrated! The rest of the ceremony went off relatively smoothly, as the baby babbled (I just “interpreted” her babbles into confirmations), and I kept one eye on the MOH.
The ceremony was beautiful, funny, and many people will remember this day for more than just the ceremony!
